SVEDISH SVEN ï»¿General Manager

Height:  5'10"

Weight: 163 lbs

Hometown: Stratford, ON

Finisher: Out go the Lights

Debut: 2004

Svedish Sven is hailed as the man who started the Backyard Wrestling Federation. Sven was born in Sweden to father Olle and mother Anja. At the age of 5, Sven was brought to North America and a few years later, was introduced to main stream wrestling.

Sven took on the role of General Manager in 2004 when all interviewees failed to meet his expectations. Sven deemed himself the only worthy candidate to fill the void. Sven has been the General Manager ever since. He didn't wrestle in his first BWF match until 2006 in the BWF's Winter season. His first match was a hat match. Sven would eventually win the winter title in 2007 from Canadian Carl only to lose the title on the following show.

MASKED MARVEL Anti-Hero

Height:  5'11

Weight: 167 lbs

Hometown: Unknown

Finisher: Twist of Fate, Chicken Wing

Debut: 2006

The Masked Marvel made his debut midway through season 1 of Winter BWF and immediately established himself as an abrupt, in your face style wrestler. His true identity is unknown.

The Masked Marvel made a great first impression by winning the Winter title in his BWF debut. Unfortunately, the villainous star was unable to defend his title at the season finale after he contracted Warmilitis - a disease he has become synonymous with. In 2016, the Masked Marvel made a shocking return and used a money in the bank clause which no one knew he had. Since returning to action, the Masked Marvel has been one of the league's most active superstars winning some of the biggest matches including the ladder match at Blizzard Bash, the Social Distance match at Total WhiteOut and the Put the baby to sleep match at Snowmageddon.

BOM DE NEIGE Gangsta French Snowman

Height:  8'0

Weight: 2 lbs

Hometown: Gatineau, QB

Finisher: The Avalanche

Debut: 2019

Bom de Neige made the jump from La Federation de Wrestling a Quebec to fight his formal rival Canadian Carl but after being mis-diagnosed by league physician Doctor Pepper, Bom de Neige was reduced to a cup of water.

In a startling turn of events, Bom de Neige was re-incarnated in 2021 in his updated form. Sadly, Bom de Neige's BWE career would come to a tragic end when the Nightmare pulled his plug while showering backstage. Bom de Neige is the only character to have an entire episode dedicated first to his (failed) wedding and then another to his celebration of life.

POMP LE MOOSE ï»¿Cocky Frenchman

Height:  5'11"

Weight: 171 lbs

Hometown: Shawinigan, QB

Finisher: Baguette-inator

Debut: 2021

The commentators literally lost their minds when he made his BWE debut. The former FBWQ star brought his title and a plethora of fans with him only to be embarrassed at the hands of the Masked Marvel in his only BWE appearance.

Pomp le Moose established himself as Quebec's finest prior to becoming a BWE wrestler. His "Moose-stache", full hand mittens and the every popular baguette had made him a sensation in his hometown but following his first defeat in over two years at Total WhiteOut, Sven quickly pulled the plug on his new superstar.

Screen Shot 2021-07-27 at 10.11.35 PM.png
THE NIGHTMARE ï»¿The Supernatural Being

Height:  5'8"

Weight: 188 lbs

Hometown: Unknown

Finisher: Chokeslam from Hell

Debut: 2021

Possibly the creepiest character the league has ever seen, the Nightmare was one of a couple wrestlers to debut in the new BWE era.

His presence was immediately felt in one of his soon to be many PSA's where he targeted Svedish Sven. While his tag line "The bell tolls for one... their time has come" made him a hit with the new BWE fans, the Nightmare has enjoyed little success in the ring early in his career.

FINNISH FINN ï»¿The Honourable Warrior

Height:  5'10"

Weight: 152 lbs

Hometown: Finland

Finisher: Double-Axe Handle Clothesline, Diving headbutt

Debut: 2021

No one even knew Sven had a brother until Finn arrived on the scene. Debuting in 2021, Finn came to the BWE to challenge the Nightmare after he assaulted his brother putting him in a hospital bed.

Finn was very impressive across three appearances in the BWE culminating with the defeat of Gassius Clay. He endeared himself to the fans as the big brother and protector to Sven before Sven stabbed him in the back. Finn left the BWE siting his no longer being wanted.

GASSIUS CLAY The Smelly Enforcer

Height:  6'1

Weight: 250 lbs

Hometown: Kitchener, ON

Finisher: The Ripper

Debut: 2018

Gassius Clay's presence in the BWF was immediately felt (or smelt) in 2018 when he debuted in a match with the Masked Marvel and completely dominated the formerly untouchable star.

Clay went on to find himself mired in controversy after some accusations against him surfaced around #nipplegate. With help from the law talents of Ricky T. Bridges, Clay was allowed to continue wrestling and was dominating the Masked Marvel in the couch match before a botched finisher landed him on the sidelines until 2021 when Clay returned as Sven's hired gun. Clay wasn't his usual self however losing to Finn in his only BWE match.

DA 'GARBAGE' MAN Village Idiot

Height:  5'9

Weight: 158 lbs

Hometown: Sauble Beach, ON

Finisher: Take out the Trash

Debut: 2005

Despite only making his ring debut in 2024, Da Garbageman (formerly known as Daman) has had a prominent role in the league dating back to the BWF days where he started as the league's original commentating voice.

When the BWF returned in 2015, Daman was relegated to the role of sideline reporter which he fully embraced. But when Sven folded the BWF in favour of creating his new league, he clearly had enough of Daman's constant desire to try and dig out a scandal and chose to replace him. Daman returned as his new alter ego in 2024 when he competed in the Rough Enough challenge and despite a truly lacklustre performance, he was awarded a BWE contract and even picked up a victory in his debut. He was later fired on the spot following an embarrassing loss in his second fight.

DRIVEWAY BANDIT The Good Samaritan

Height:  5'10

Weight: 150 lbs

Hometown: Kitchener, ON

Finisher: Unknown

Debut: 2024

The Driveway Bandit made his BWE debut in 2024 when he had the opportunity to share his incredible origin story with the BWE fans. Unfortunately, despite participating in a match where the conditions seemed heavily in his favour, his opponent pulled a number of dirty tricks out of his back pocket to steal the victory.

The Driveway Bandit remains an active member of the BWE roster eagerly awaiting his next opportunity.

Screen Shot 2025-03-13 at 23.46.07.png
VICKY VAN DE LOOP Sideline Reporter

Height:  5'7

Weight: -

Hometown: Toronto, ON

Finisher: None

Debut: 2021

Miss Van de Loop first arrived on the scene when she was hand picked by Sven to replace Daman on the sidelines. Vicky immediately made her presence felt in the BWE becoming a regular on the show even earning herself a side gig as the host of Van de Loop with the scoop where she would interview superstars in the league.

Van de Loop also played a starring role next to Sven in the BWE work from home series and remains an integral piece of the BWE's broadcast team.

Screen Shot 2025-03-13 at 23.39.27.png
DRILLBIT Voice of an Era

Height:  5'8

Weight: 160

Hometown: New Zealand

Finisher: None

Debut: 2015

Drillbit debuted his chops on the mic with the revival of the league in 2015. The combo of Drillbit and Didgeridoo produced commentating gold as they brought to life the first ever appearance of Ghost Rick which would become an instant classic.

Despite losing his co-host when the BWF became the BWE, Drillbit never lost a beat. Sven felt Drillbit's voice added so much to the show, he had the kiwi provide new commentary to all the retro episodes from the BWF days. Today, Drillbit is synonymous as being a major part of the BWE's success. Some have even suggested that his talents are wasted on Sven's inferior product.

Screen Shot 2025-03-17 at 22.50.32.png
DR PEPPER League Physician

Height:  5'8

Weight: 178

Hometown: Ottawa, ON

Finisher: None

Debut: 2015

Doctor Pepper first appeared in a backstage scene in 2015 when General Manager Svedish Sven appeared in a bed with his ribs and head bandaged. Despite taking a simple hit to the midsection from the Unknown's crutch, Dr. Pepper expertly diagnosed Sven with broken ribs and a concussion leading to another '"no referee" match.

Dr. Pepper also reappeared the following season emerging from a new office under the stairs holding a glass containing what he claimed was the remains of Bom de Neige. It was later revealed that he famously prescribed heat packs to Bom de Neige for his aches following his match with Masked Marvel. Dr Pepper's final appearance was in 2021 when he showed up as a witness for Masked Marvel's vasectomy only to lateradmit he had no idea that's what a vasectomy was.

FORMER BWF SUPERSTARS

THE UNKNOWN A True Enigma

Height:  Unknown

Weight: Unknown

Hometown: Unknown

Finisher: Various

Debut: 2006

Not much is known about the BWF's most mysterious character. In 2006, the Unknown made his first appearance in the BWF Winter season on the first ever Ice Wars. He became a regular fixture of the Ice Wars roster throughout the 3 years of the shows existance.

Over the course of his career, the Unknown has won the Winter title numerous times. He has also made BWF history by competing in the first "No Referee" match, the first "Hat" match, "Over the Fence" match and the only episode of BWF Winter to be filmed in summer where the Unknown was proud to come away without catching warmilitis.

Height:  5'11

Weight: 140 lbs

Hometown: Paris, ON

Finisher: Stunner, Figure-4 Leg Lock

Debut: 2006

Canadian Carl burst on the scene in 2006 where he starred in the greatest episode in BWF history. Carl was the first french speaking superstar in the Backyard Wrestling Federation and continues to be very patriot to his Quebec roots even moving to Paris, Ontario just to feel more at home.

Canadian Carl is a multiple winner of the prestigious BWF Winter Championship. He was an exclusive star on Ice Wars from 2006-2008. Unfortunately, Canadian Carl contracted the dangerous Warmilitis disease sometime between 2008 and 2016. Some think he may have caught the disease from fellow opponent Masked Marvel.

CANADIAN CARL French Patriot

THE FOX ï»¿The Animal

Height:  5'10"

Weight: 155 lbs

Hometown: Forest

Finisher: Swinging DDT, STF

Debut: 2005

While he made his debut at the first ever Big Brawl of 2005, the Fox is likely best remembered for appearance in the finale of the first BWF Winter season when he attacked the Unknown and stole his title belt before fighting the Unknown in an over the fence match.

The Fox has rarely been seen again in the BWF since the BWF turned over exclusively to Winter BWF in 2006 and the Fox hibernates during the winter. But if the season ever runs into the spring, watch out...

Hardcore fans have rumoured that Ghost Rick is actually the re-incarnated spirit of recently deceased Canadian Carl. However, other more logical fans point out the Ghost doesn't have a french accent.

Ghost Rick immediately became a fan favourite after he earned a massive upset win over the Unknown to win the BWF Winter Championship by virtue of his finisher, the STF. He faired decently in his second match but lost his title amidst some good old fashion BWF controversy.

GHOST RICK Ultimate Good Guy

Height:  Nothing

Weight: Weightless

Hometown: Everywhere and Nowhere

Finisher: STF

Debut: 2016

RETRO FAN FAVOURITES

GADGET MAN ï»¿The High Flying Hero

Height:  5'8"

Weight: 164 lbs

Hometown: Kitchener, ON

Finisher: Sweet Chin Music, The Neckbreaker

Debut: 2004

Gadget Man is the first original hero character in the BWF. His was first seen in 2003 walking the halls of German School. He made the transition to wrestling in 2004 when he crashed onto the BWF scene in dramatic and historic fashion. Gadget Man was actually not one of the 6 wrestlers originally hired by Sven however, the hero proved to be a crowd favourite earning a roster spot on future shows.

Gadget Man won his first match on April 17th 2004 at Dawn of Destruction when he defeated Jackhammer James in the legendary table match. He would go on to battle Inferno for the title at the following PPV but would have to wait until the 3rd PPV to win the BWF Championship for the first time in the only ever ladder match. Gadget Man held the title until Backyardmania where he lost to the Inferno inthe longest match in BWF history. The Gadget Man has since reclaimed the title in 2008 in a one off hardcore rematch for the title where he send the Inferno through a table of thumb tacks. To this day, Gadget Man is believed to be the reigning champion.

MAVERICK ï»¿Lone Wolf

Height:  5'9"

Weight: 120 lbs

Hometown: Guelph, ON

Finisher: Stunner

Debut: 2004

There isn't a better term to describe Maverick then his name itself. Maverick is a one man show who doesn't take bull from anyone. In the early days of BWF, Maverick had a truce with Hommie Cop but when the fellow superstar left the league, Maverick thrived becoming a legitimate championship contendor.

Maverick was a finalist in the first ever battle for the title at Dawn of Destruction. He would go on to compete for the title twice more only to come up short in 3 attempts. Maverick came the closest at the Big Brawl when he clashed with Gadget Man earning the respect of the then champion. Maverick continues to work his way to the top with a "Whatever it takes to win" mentality.

JACKHAMMER JAMES Manipulator

Height:  5'10

Weight: 151 lbs

Hometown: Kitchener, ON

Finisher: Twist of Fate

Debut: 2004

The Jackhammer made his debut versus the Homie Cop on the first ever show of Wrestling Wars and established himself as a staple of the league for years.

Jackhammer was best know for his table match at Dawn of Destruction but probably gained his most recognition in 2005 when it appeared he and Sven were going to team up and try to get Jackhammer the BWF title. Sadly, the BWF would fold the regular season before Jackhammer ever competed in the title match.

INFERNO The Powerhouse

Height:  6'1

Weight: 220 lbs

Hometown: Waterloo, ON

Finisher: F-5

Debut: 2004

One of the most decorated and possibly the most successful BWF superstar of all time, Inferno was the first ever BWF champion and became the first 2 time champion winning the first ever Big Brawl and then taking advantage of his opportunity winning the BWF title in a gruelling 25 minute match at Backyardmania.

Inferno had an impressive winning percentage in his brief career. Unfortunately, the Inferno's career with the league ended with the discontinuation of the summer season in 2006.
